Bristol lanes 13th September

Post by Pete Thomas »

Me, Mark Summerhill (DRZ400) and Somerset TRF man Andy Cooper did 60 miles of local lanes today. Our most westward point, having left from Bath, was Charterhouse, via the usual suspects including Ubley drove.

A nice leisurely start (11am) and near perfect weather made for a very relaxed days riding.

Trails were very dry, almost to the point of making this too straightforward, but it did make for a hassle free ride.

Scared the chaps a bit at the watery lane on Woolard, but in reality the water level was lower than I'd ever seen it. Road closure in Woolard, but we snuck through and continued on our route. Second road closure in keynsham meant stony lane was the only one left untouched, but no bother. Even finished with a cider at the Globe, which made it a pretty much perfect day.

Need to do rear wheel bearings and chain and sprocket before Wales in a week or so, but going to try and make the rear tyre last!
