S Glos loop (via Stroud and Chippenham!)

Myself and 2 of the CB crowd had a great time on my route of unusual lanes. Kent Lane was unfortunately closed as some bloke was laying a cable across it (but he said it should be open again tomorrow) and we had a right battle in Old Kington Road with the newly installed jungle - see pics in Byway r...

Salisbury Plain Surprise 19/5/21

Chris B, JD and I left the Tog Hill layby 0945, dodged rain showers for about 140 miles and 10 hours, but got wetter from the huge amounts of standing water than what was falling from the sky, the heaviest of that being hail! Mostly sunny wherever we happened to be though and managed to spend one of...

Took Gordon from Somerset TRF on a quest to photograph all the BANES lanes we've not done yet for the GRM and got most. He assured me that his bike was fit for long deep water but the signs at Woolard gave a more accurate prophecy!

Re: April Fool's post lockdown ride

Bry thought it really was an April Fool, but turned out he was the fool! We did loads of really boring pictures of empty lanes for the GRM, now have to figure out what lanes they actually are! But here's a couple I took with people and bikes in, one at Charterhouse and one on the Fosse near Radstock...

The last bit down to the road is concrete.

I suspect tarmac to the house, then concrete. Still an interesting looking little lane though. Hoping Pete will know all about it as think he's local to it.

Re: Shepton loop from Pilton 29/11/2020

Nettlebridge.JPG Pete, I was wondering why you take the (red) longer 'lane free' route to the E near the A367 when the (pink) shorter route along that could include the little UCR between Nettlebridge and Neighbourne? I don't think I've ever ridden it, but on the map that looks like an obvious impr...

Ascot joint run with Loddon Vale TRF

In glorious weather Chris B and I joined with Dave and Dan in the London commuter belt to try out the untried final 60 mile loop of my forthcoming 150 mile "Day at the races" summer 2021 ride from Swindon to Ascot and back, with a little local knowledge to guide us if we ran into problems with it. S...

Last Day before National Boredom Month

Chris B led us out for 80 miles of pretty tough, super slippery boggy lanes S of the Quantocks, clear blue skies with views all the way to Wales, lunch in the tea rooms with everything, a bit of forestry and finishing off with some well earned and extremely tasty beers c/o the Quantock Brewery befor...

Where the Fosse are we going? 16/9/20

After an initial problem where the meeting point garage 3 of us planned to fill up at before starting (BP just S of Hullavington) had just been demolished (they were literally putting the final touches to tidying up the rubble heap as we arrived at 9am!) we had a really nice ride around in the sunsh...
