I was talking to Nick Crook who used to be a runs leader when we were all in shorts and have taken possession of boxes of old run record sheets. In the discussions I wonder if we should again be keeping records of the legal routes that we do especially in light of the spectre of UCRs being potentially on the NERC hitlist (to go the same way as RUPPs).
We (nationally) lost a lot of RUPPs for many reasons, one of which was lack of evidence of use in the 5yrs preceeding the cut-off date (2005). I would hate to lose the UCR network and wish in hindsight that we had comprehensive records.
I would like to suggest we reinstate the run record sheets. The sheets should have the following info;
Date. Names of those riding (can be cross referenced to address if needed later). List of the routes ridden; either by official designation or by grid reference start/end or even better a copy of a map showing the route and a box for comments [eg hassle, obstruction, etc)
I am happy to draft a document and bring to next meeting. (monday 28th)
This could form the basis of a "master map" that we've been talking about for years.
Needless to say it should only be a record of the legal routes.
Not sure how to sycronise this with Martins road book.
